Marie L Casale

June 21, 1935 ~ June 3, 2017 (age 81) 81 Years Old
Agawam – Maria Lenore (Solorazano) Casale was born in Guatemala City, Central America. She proudly came to America where she became a United States Citizen who attended George Washington University in Washington, DC and later received her Nursing degree from Brooklyn College. She worked for Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. Her loyalty to her family and country were always evident in how she spoke of them. Maria and her husband Reo moved to Westfield, MA where she worked, raised her family and retired from Noble Hospital. Maria and Reo later moved to Agawam, MA. She came out of retirement to continue her love of nursing at The Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke, MA. Maria was a feisty young, beautiful 82 year old who always debated and never lost an argument over politics…. especially over the latest election. Her love of football could be heard from the TV sidelines cheering on the New England Patriots and the Dallas Cowboys. To know her was to love her. And she was loved. She was predeceased by her loving husband Reo in 2002. Maria often could be heard saying in her famous Spanish accent that she would be most happy to be reunited with him again. She was looking forward to that union. The Lord watched and kept over her until that time. Maria was an avid reader, especially James Patterson novels and enjoyed playing bingo with Teresa and Karen at The Polish Club. She loved traveling and having her grandchildren accompany her on many trips from Disneyland, to Italy, Spain, Germany, Peru and Portugal. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Agawam. She was “Abuela” to her 3 loving grandchildren, Lucy of Shelburne, VT, Nicholas and Grace of Longmeadow. She also leaves her son, Christopher and his wife Kathy of Longmeadow, MA; her daughter, Roseanne and her husband Ralph DePalma of Southwick, MA; her sister-in-law Debbie and her husband Colin Yorke of Long Island, NY; her brothers-in-law, Rob and his wife Lori, Gregg and his wife Nini both of Brooklyn, NY, and David and his wife Emily of Ohio. Maria also considered Mike, Karen, Nathan Nazarenko, Frank and Colleen Nunez her extended family. Her spunk and quick witted responses will sadly and greatly be missed by all. It was our honor to call you mom. We love you and thank God for you. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, June 11th from 5-7PM at Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home, 985 Main St., Agawam. A Celebration of Life Service to honor Maria will be held on Monday, June 12th at 12:30PM in the funeral home followed by a committal Service in Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Boys and Girls Club of Westfield, 28 West Silver St., Westfield, MA 01085. Or in true Maria fashion and her patriotism, contributions can be collected and sent to Make America Great Again at https://donate.donaldjtrump.com.
