Betsy E. Lundy

LONGMEADOW- Marguerite “Betsy” Lundy 87, passed away peacefully at her home on November 22, 2017. Betsy was the beloved wife of 54 years to the late Dr. Laurence “Larry” E. Lundy, who predeceased her on November 8, 2012. Betsy was also predeceased by her daughter Judith Lundy, in 1965; and her three brothers, Joseph Beard, William Beard, and Emerson Beard. Betsy was born on December 6, 1929 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Emerson Beard and Viola (Schultz) Beard. She was a graduate of Temple University School of Nursing in Philadelphia; where she worked as a Registered Nurse until she began to raise her family.
A resident of Longmeadow since 1974, Betsy enjoyed playing tennis. She and her husband traveled all over the world; but they especially loved Cape Cod and their second home in Chatham. She will be remembered always as a kind, gentle, woman; who always saw the good in the world around her.
Betsy will be lovingly remembered by her three sons, Mark Lundy and his wife Nancy, of South Windsor, Connecticut, Geoffrey Lundy and his partner Thom Ouellette ,of Hopkinton, NH, Daniel Lundy and his wife Beth, of Glastonbury, Connecticut; a daughter Lisa (Lundy) MacDonald and her fiancé Dan Fitzgerald, of Rockland ,Massachusetts. Betsy was the adoring grandmother of Robert Lundy, Allison Lundy, Isabella “Bella” Lundy, Rebecca “Becka” Lundy, Jonathan Lundy, and David Lundy. Betsy will also be remembered by her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends she leaves behind.
The family will gather and receive friends on Thursday (Nov. 30th, 2017)from 4:00PM – 7:00PM in the Forastiere Smith Family Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. A celebration of her life will take place at 11:00AM on Friday (Dec. 1, 2017) in the funeral home. Private burial will follow .
