Louis Anthony Tranghese, 86, of Longmeadow, beloved husband of Judith (Monette) Tranghese, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2017th in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Springfield on December 31, 1930, he was the son of the late Carlo and Paolina (Scibelli) Tranghese. He graduated from Technical High School in 1948 and joined the Local Laborers Union 999 in Springfield, following in the footsteps of his father. Louie met Judie Monette in 1956 and they were married 3 years later in 1959, enjoying 58 wonderful years of marriage. In 1986, he became a Trustee for the Massachusetts Laborers’ Annuity Fund up through retirement and was also on the Manpower Advisory Board for Springfield Technical Community College. Louie had a passion for singing, especially Crooner’s style music. He recorded several CD’s that have been enjoyed by many. Louie had a profound faith in God and enjoyed teaching CCD at the former St. Joseph’s School in Springfield. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Longmeadow. One of his favorite memories occurred last year when his two passions, faith and family, were brought together in a memorable trip to the Vatican with his grandson Anthony; a trip he cherished greatly. Louie was the kind of guy that you loved from the moment you met him; he will be deeply missed by many family, friends, and co-workers in the Springfield area and beyond.
