James F. Sullivan, 55, born in Springfield on May 22, 1961, went to join his father Donald H. Sullivan and his brother Stephen J. Sullivan on March 27, 2017. He leaves behind his devoted mother, Mary Lou (Owens) Sullivan, a brother Michael (Janis) Sullivan of Nevada and a sister Christine E. Sullivan of Springfield. He also leaves his sister in law, Gail Sullivan as well as nephews Christopher Sullivan of Nevada, Daniel DeCaro of Springfield, Sean Sullivan of Texas and Jeffrey DeCaro of Monson, MA. He leaves one great nephew, Vincenzo DeCaro of Springfield, and his dear, beloved friend and life partner Lorraine Egerton of Indian Orchard. Jim participated for many years in the Special Olympics, playing in several sports. He was sponsored by Pathlight (formerly The Association for Community Living) to assist him in enjoying a full productive life. Jim worked for HRU. Jim was well known as was also referred to as “Big Jim” and “The Big Teddy Bear”. One would often see him with a basketball in his hand. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed seeing his Boston Red Sox both in Boston and at JetBlue Park in Ft. Myers, FL. He will be missed by all. Please join his family from 10AM – 11AM on Friday (March 31, 2017) in the Forastiere Smith Family Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow; with a funeral home service to follow at 11:00AM. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Springfield.
