Cynthia M. Stewart

Hampden – Cynthia “Cindy” Marie (Hernandez) Stewart, 49, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt passed away peacefully after a difficult battle with Early-onset Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born in Springfield on September 2, 1967. She was a 1985 graduate of Classical High School. Cindy began her working career at Stanhome Inc. as an executive secretary and then went on to work for Smith and Wesson until 1997. While raising her family she was a Para-professional for the Hampden Wilbraham Regional School District. Cindy was a delightful, warm, caring and loving person whose greatest joy was being a wife and mother. She strongly believed in the importance of education, was an avid reader, and enjoyed the outdoors. Her passion was caring about and doing for others as a volunteer for many community fundraisers and causes. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and the bright light she was in the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her. She leaves her devoted husband of 27 years, Bruce Stewart; her children, Andrew and Kelsey Stewart; her mother, Emma (Barretto) Hernandez of West Springfield; her brothers, John Hernandez and his wife Alma of Windsor, CT, and Rafael Hernandez and his wife Kim of Longmeadow; her sisters, Jessica Vega and her husband Julio Angel of Orlando, FL, Peggy Hernandez of West Springfield, and Gladys Torres and her husband Robert of Orlando, FL; and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, July 31st from 4-8PM at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. A private graveside service will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
