Barbara G. Hutchinson

AGAWAM – Barbara G. Hutchinson, 91, passed away on November 20, 2017 at home. Born in Brattleboro, VT on November 11, 1926 to Charles and Irma (Williams) Gunzinger, she grew up in Vermont before raising her family in Springfield. In her working years, she was an Executive Secretary for Monarch Life Insurance Company. She had a passion for reading and also writing poetry. Barbara loved a variety of puzzle books, especially crossword puzzles. In her younger years she was a very active woman who enjoyed swimming, but her passion and love for her family surpassed all of her hobbies and interests. Whether it was baking or cooking for her family, she loved to be around her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. Barbara leaves her daughters, Cherie Fifield of Agawam and Nancy Knodler and her husband Eric of Schodack, NY; her grandchildren, Amber Durken and her husband Daryl, Matthew Knodler and his wife Jen and Sarah Schools and her husband Matthew; her great-grandchildren, Colin, Lauren, Cooper, Oliver, Everett, Mia and Brady. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son Mark Hutchinson on June 15, 2017; and her siblings, Phillip Gunzinger and Patricia Davis. Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, November 25, 2017 from 1-3 PM at Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home, 985 Main Street, Agawam. A service will follow at 3 PM.
