Antonio Barbarisi

Antonio “Tony” Barbarisi, 90, of Springfield, beloved husband of the late Stella (Liquori) Barbarisi, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born January 13, 1927 in Banzano, Avellino, Italy, he was the son of the late Michele and Emilia (D’Angelo) Barbarisi. Tony moved to the U.S. in 1956 with his wife. He worked for HBA Cast Products as a Machinist for 30 years before retiring in 1989. He went on to work for Northern Tool Manufacturing after his retirement. He was a very loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. Tony is survived by his sons Michael and his wife Charlene of Springfield, and Antonio "Tony" and his wife Diane of Feeding Hills; grandchildren Anthony, Michael, and Charles Barbarisi, Angelina Geoffroy and her husband Chris, and Christina Barbarisi and her fiancé Nick Printy; and 4 great-grandchildren, Gianna, Madison, Stella, and Vincenzo. He will also be missed by his siblings, Rafaelle, Nicole, and Anna, all of Italy; his sisters-in-law Carmela Trezza and Marguerite Liquori, both of Springfield; and brother-in-law, Vincenzo Liquori and his wife Maria of Springfield; special family members Catherine Marchese and Brian Marchese, and many nieces and nephews in the US and Italy.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his siblings Emilio and Michele Barbarisi and Maria Sarzilla. His family will receive friends on Friday, July 28th from 4-8 PM at the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 29th beginning at 8:45 AM from the funeral home, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Springfield. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Springfield.
