Anthony Abraham

Springfield – Anthony Abraham, died on Saturday November 18th, 2017. He was born on December 23, 1929 to the late Anthony Sr. and Jennie (Koury) Abraham. “Abe” as known by his friends was a lifelong resident of Springfield. He served his country in the Korean War and came back home to live with his family. He believed as in all of his brothers and sisters before him in the sanctity of a family. Cherished and sustained that closeness his whole life. A value not often found today. A knowledgeable fan of all sports and all forms of gambling arising from growing up in a “Runyonesque” era. “Abe’s fate was sealed to fall in love with horseracing. Owning when he was young and betting to the end, an “old school horseplayer”! Few and far between. Just like the gentle good soul he was. He is survived by his nephew, Pasquale Perrotta; his niece, Susan Burstein and her husband, Alan. A calling hour will be held on Tuesday November 21st from 10 – 11 AM in Forastiere Family Funeral Home, 45 Locust St., Springfield, followed by a service at 11 AM in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Springfield.
