Alberto L Panzetti

EAST LONGMEADOW- Alberto Luigi Panzetti, 82 died on September 2, 2017; at his daughter and son in law’s home in Chicopee. Born in Verona, Italy to the late Bruno and Margherita (Guilani) Panzetti, he was a lifelong resident of East Longmeadow. Alberto was predeceased by his beautiful wife of 61 years, Bianca who passed on June 4, 2017. Alberto leaves 2 sons, Gianni (John) Panzetti and his girlfriend Lynn, of Belchertown, Joseph Panzetti and his wife Laura ,of East Longmeadow; one daughter, Linda and her husband Anthony DeCasse Jr., of Chicopee; a brother, Renzo Ventrice and his wife Betsy, of Holyoke; a brother in law and best friend, Salvatore Antico and his wife Sandra; a sister in law, Julia Tomaino; a sister and brother in law, Rose and Bob Gasteyer; 6 grandchildren, Serena Panzetti, Stefania DeCasse, Adriana Strycharz and husband Robbie, Vanessa Gatas and husband Joshie, Vincent DeCasse and wife Alexis, Joseph DeCasse and girlfriend Maria; 5 great grandchildren, Tyler, Brady, Elorah, Caiden and Everett; 12 nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews, many cousins, Godchildren, relatives and friends from Italy, lifelong friends from Westwood and Alpine Ave., friends from the Archery Club, former daughter in law Lina, and sister in law Cheryl. In addition to his parents and wife, Alberto was predeceased by a granddaughter Katrina Panzetti, a nephew Dino Antico, a brother in law Paul Tomaino, and a dear friend Don Cataldo. Alberto’s family would like to thank Western Massachusetts Hospital Staff, Dr. Buckburg, Spectrum Hospice, Baystate Senior Games, Becky, Joe Palomeni, “D.J.” Rocco for great Sunday music, and to Senators Linda Melconian and Brian Lees who honored him with a Letter of Recognition for winning a gold medal , in his very first competition , with the Baystate Senior Games.
The family will receive friends from 8:30 AM – 10:30 AM on Friday (September 8, 2017) in the Forastiere Smith Family Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. His funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM in the funeral home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial, celebrated, at 11:30AM in St. Michael’s Church, 128 Maple St., East Longmeadow. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, 1601 State St., Springfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Alberto’s honor may be made to a charity of your choice.
